Gosatomnadzor held a workshop to improve the system of personnel training on the issues of radiation safety
Representatives of Gosatomnadzor, BSTU Branch “Intersectoral Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining in Management and Personnel Development”, International Sakharov Environmental Institute of the BSU, University of Civil Protection, State Educational Institution “National Institute for Higher School”, State Educational Institution “Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of Heads and Specialists of the Industry ‘KADRY INDUSTRII’”, Interstate Educational Institution of Higher Education “Belarusian-Russian University” and the Training Center of the SE “Belarusian NPP” took part in the workshop.
Gosatomnadzor specialists made presentations that emphasized the current issues of radiation safety and licensing legislation requirements, common challenges faced during the design of radiation facilities, as well as the IAEA approaches to personnel training on radiation safety of ionizing radiation sources and on the development of the Strategy for Improving Competence in Radiation Safety.
The workshop participants exchanged good practices of educational activities on radiation safety of ionizing radiation sources, as well as their own ideas on its further improvement.
Maintaining a proper level of specialists’ competence, whose activities are closely related to ionizing radiation sources, is the basis for ensuring radiation safety. Expressed suggestions will be analyzed and used in future activities.
Following the outcomes of the workshop, all the participants agreed that it is beneficial to hold such events on a regular basis in order to discover first-hand the essential aspects of legislative requirements and to share opinions in a transparent and welcoming environment.
