Subdivisions and organizations of the MES system are taking part in the IAEA exercises
System of situation and crisis centers of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection is involved. The exercise is conducted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Romania.
The purpose of ConvEx-3 is to evaluate the effectiveness of the IAEA’s accident and emergency management system, including maintaining communication with the state where the accident occurred.
Such exercises are conducted every three to five years to evaluate the emergency response arrangements in place that fulfill the obligations under the Convention on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident and the Convention on Assistance in the Case of a Nuclear Accident or Radiological Emergency.
Following the results of the exercise, the consistency of the response actions taken by states and international organizations will be evaluated to identify both good practices and issues to be improved.
