Gosatomnadzor is taking part in the IAEA Technical Working Group on Nuclear Power Infrastructure
For reference:
Technical Working Group on Nuclear Power Infrastructure (TWG-NPI) is a group of experts from countries with existing national nuclear power programmes, as well as countries that are considering or have begun to implement such programmes.
The group was established to provide recommendations to the IAEA on aspects of developing national infrastructures that ensure safety in nuclear energy. The TWG-NPI recommendations are taken into account by the IAEA management when determining the thematic areas of activity for the relevant Agency’s structures in the midterm.
Participation of a representative of Gosatomnadzor in the working group provides access to information on the latest developments and good practices in the establishment of national nuclear infrastructures in the IAEA member states. Invitation of the Belarusian regulator to join the working group demonstrates a high level of trust towards the Republic of Belarus expressed by the international expert community in issues related to the Belarusian NPP safety.
During the event, Mr Maxim Mazurenko presented information on the results achieved by the country in strengthening the infrastructure ensuring safe operation of the Belarusian NPP, as well as on the midterm plans of the Belarusian regulator for further improvement in this area.
On the sidelines of the event, a working discussion on particular issues of cooperation with a representative of the Basic Organization for the Development of National Nuclear Infrastructures in the CIS member states also took place.
